The door latch is stuck in the locked position. You can t find camper door locks in any hardware store so we carry a full lineup of rv doors locks and camper door latches. The door has some jiggle room but one of the latches is still extended far enough to be catching on the door jam.

If you cannot rack or twist the door a little to release that stuck latch your solution of removing the screws might be the better way to go to avoid damaging the door or the center lock assembly. Of course this is after you ve managed to open the storage compartment door. Barring this after discussing this with many other camper who had this problem the last resort is to call a locksmith to unlock the door. Fortunately we are not camping. Most rv windows just have a swivel type latch on them and you can use a thin blade to slide it open.
